Shepherd’s Cross recently announced the dates for its Yarn & Fiber Hand Dyeing Retreat, which will be held on Saturday, May 8. Full and half day classes are available, and lessons are offered in person or online.

Shepherd’s Cross is the Gaywool Dye distributor for all of Canada and the United States. Gaywool Dye is an easy, safe, economical, color fast and dependable dyeing product. Each class includes all materials needed to take home beautifully dyed yarn.

Full day participants will make three colorful skeins and one colorful braided roving. The full day class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $79 onsite or $89 for the virtual class. Half day participants will make two skeins of colorful yarn. The half day class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and costs $49 onsite or $54 for virtual class participants.

Virtual class participants will need to pick up or make arrangements for supplies ahead of class time.

Class participants will need to bring a sack lunch. Snacks and beverages will be provided at two break times. Please register early, as there is a class minimum of five and maximum of 20 participants.

Shepherd’s Cross is an authentic working farm located just north of Claremore on scenic Route 66. Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, which processes the wool from their flock of sheep. Also located on-site is the Shepherd’s Shop, a quaint country gift shop that offers a host of festive handmade and farm-related gifts and wares from many gifted artisans. The gift shop and museum are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m

Shepherd’s Cross is also an Animal Welfare Approved sheep farm and processes chemical free, hormone free, free range natural fiber. Heart of the Shepherd is a non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. The organization also teaches Biblical references to the harvest, animals, farming and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma company.
