Professional baseball in Tulsa will return to the field in 2021. After the city was left without a baseball season for the first time in nearly 70 years, the Tulsa Drillers will return to play this spring. On Thursday, the Drillers revealed their complete 2021 schedule, with Opening Night set for Tuesday, May 4 at ONEOK Field.

In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the schedules for all 120 Professional Development League teams were announced on Thursday. The Drillers, as an affiliate of the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers and members in the North Division of the newly-named Double-A Central League, will play a 120-game regular season that will run through Sunday, September 19.
The schedule format will call for teams to play a six-game series each week with Mondays always serving as off days.
The Double-A Central will play an unbalanced schedule in 2021 in an effort to minimize travel for the players, coaches and traveling parties. The Drillers will play all four other teams in the North Division, both home and away, but will only play two teams from the South Division during the campaign. They will play home-and-away series with Amarillo and Midland, but they will not face Frisco, San Antonio, or Corpus Christi at any point in the regular season.
The most common opponent for Tulsa will be Wichita, with 30 games scheduled against the new Wind Surge. The Drillers will meet both Northwest Arkansas and Springfield 24 times and will face Arkansas 18 times.
The schedule will be split evenly with 60 home games and 60 road games. Final decisions regarding playoff scheduling and whether the league will use the traditional split-season format are still to be determined.
The Drillers will open the season at home by hosting the Amarillo Sod Poodles at ONEOK Field. The historic game will mark the return of Drillers professional baseball, ending a stretch of 595 days without a game.
The season-opening series will run from May 4 through Sunday, May 9. The last time the Drillers played a game, it was in Game 5 of the 2019 Texas League Championship Series when the Sod Poodles rallied late to keep Tulsa from winning consecutive league titles.
Through the first month of the season, the Drillers will rotate home and road series. After the opening six games against Amarillo, they will take to the road for the first time with a series at Northwest Arkansas.
They will return home on Tuesday, May 18 for a six-game set against the Wind Surge. It will be the first meetings between teams from Tulsa and Wichita since the 2007 season.
The Drillers will be home for a pair of holiday weekends. Tulsa will host Arkansas beginning on June 29 and concluding on Independence Day, Sunday, July 4. They will wrap up their home schedule with a six-game series at ONEOK Field against Springfield starting on August 31 and finishing on Labor Day Weekend with the home finale set for Sunday, September 5.
Tulsa will conclude the regular season with back-to-back road series in west Texas. The Drillers will open the trip at Amarillo September 7-12, followed by a series at Midland with the regular season finale set for Sunday, September 19.
The schedule calls for 14 home games in May, 16 in June, 15 in July, 14 in August and 5 home games in September.
Game times and promotions will be announced in the coming weeks.
