Pryor’s Comforts of Home Quilt Show Attracts Attendees from Several States

With the beautiful colors, amazing designs and skilled stitching, it’s no wonder the Comforts of Home Quilt Show each year attracts visitors from throughout Oklahoma and several surrounding states, organizers say.
            Produced by the Pryor Patches Quilt Guild and supported by the Pryor Chamber of Commerce, the two-day, biennial event, September 22 and 23, has grown throughout the years and now calls Pryor’s MidAmerica Expo Center home.
             The quilt show has traditionally showcased handmade quilts, fabrics, and sewing supplies, said Julia Minton, show planner.
            “This year, it is expanding and will include Pryor area boutiques and crafts. Attracting attendees from several states, there are both judged and non-judged categories,” she added.
            The show, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, also offers additional attractions including quilting vendors, demonstrations and seminars. On Friday from 10am until 4pm, Judy Howard, of Buckboard Quilts in Oklahoma City, will be doing a bed turning. All proceeds will be donated by Judy and the Pryor Patchers to the Mayes County Back Pack Program for children.
           In addition, the show features door prizes, a craft and quilt boutique, country store and food concessions.
           Vendors include: Capstone Creations, Pryor; A Bolt Load of Fabric, Wagoner;
Bittersweet Quilts, Joplin, Missouri; The Fabric Merchant, Joplin, Missouri; Gentry Quilts, Gentry, Arkansas: Jim Sorrell Singer, Seminole; Madison's Place Pattern Co., Tulsa;  North East Oklahoma Quilts, Valor;  Prairie Notions Fabric Shop,  Allen;

             There are several quilt show categories for entering quilts. Please visit for the show entry form.
            Resources for the show come directly from the Patches Quilt Guild’s 94 member group of volunteers who donate many hours in the production of the show.
            “This year, the Pryor Chamber of Commerce is assisting with media promotion in hopes of attracting even more visitors to this beautiful area of the state,” said Barbara Hawkins, president of the Pryor Chamber of Commerce.
