Get creative and crafty this summer at Har-Ber Village Museum

Like art and making things with your hands? Har-Ber Village Museum offers several ways to explore your creativity this summer! Learn to make jewelry and weave in a workshop, participate in an art camp or explore a variety of art with hands-on experiences during Art on the Lake (Family Fun) Day.

Three upcoming workshops will teach you the art of jewelry-making. The sessions build one on another, but you can start any time. Descriptions follow:

We will have two visiting artists this summer to lead us in water color and acrylic painting and ceramics. Each participant will design a unique pottery piece out of clay. Other experiences will include weaving, tie-dying, a tissue paper craft, and creating with natural materials found on the Village grounds. Create edible art as part of a daily snack. Each camper will participate in an “Art Opening” during the Art on the Lake (Family Fun) Day event on Saturday, August 12.  Geared for ages 9-13, pre-registration and prepayment is required. Fee is $60.

On August 12, join us for Art on the Lake (Family Fun) Day and celebrate the arts! Explore a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional art through demonstrations and hands-on interactive stations. You’ll see fiber arts, graphic arts, sculpting and ceramics, painting, photography and more.

On August 26 and 27, learn Beginning Weaving from instructor Jeannie Wheatley during a two-day workshop. This class is for those wanting to know how to weave, warp and thread a loom and how to read patterns. Weave a table runner on a 4-harness loom. Yarns are provided. You are encouraged to bring your own loom. A limited number of looms are available on a first-come basis. Workshop is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday. Fee is $165.
