Free events at Har-Ber Village Museum in Grove, Oklahoma

The Village’s 50th anniversary celebration continues on June 16 with a free dance/concert and outdoor movie thanks to Grove Tourism Bureau and Grove Rotary Club! That same night, you will also be able to enjoy a 1970s-themed  dinner (Spaghetti and Meat Balls served with Garlic Toast and a Dinner Salad, includes Coffee or Tea) at the Café at Har-Ber Village. Reservations are highly recommended for the dinner ($12 per adult; $7 per child up to age 13; $2 discount for Har-Ber Village members). Tickets for the dinner may be purchased online at
The free dance/concert begins in the Event Tent (right behind the Café)at 6:00 pm. The center of the Event Tent will be left open for dancing with plenty of seating around the perimeter to enjoy the lively sounds of Cool Breeze who will focus on the songs of the 1970s, but you will hear 1950s and 1960s tunes as well. Refreshments (sodas, water, popcorn, candy) will be available for sale during the dance and the movie. This is a family-friendly event, so no alcoholic beverages are available.
Around 8:30 pm, on the 40th anniversary of its release, the 1970s movie favorite Grease will be shown on an outdoor inflatable screen on the lawn and gravel next to the Event Tent. There is no charge to watch the film, but you might want to bring your favorite comfortable chairs and blankets!
Add to your 1970s experience by visiting Har-Ber Village during the day! The Village portion of Har-Ber Village Museum will have extended hours on June 16, from 9am - 5:00 pm! To really get in the mood, look through your closet and dig out those polyester suits, hot pants, disco outfits and flowered prints! Or—dress like a 1950s character from the movie Grease! Plenty of fun for adults and seniors to relive moments of their past and share it with their children and grandchildren.
We will be offering a variety of crafts (make a colorful ojo de dios, decorate a pet rock complete with house, learn macrame knots, make and use a knitting spool, and work on a latch hook rug), games (Hungry Hungry Hippo, Connect 4, Battleship, and Operation), and 1970s movies, television series and commercials: watch Happy Days episodes and Jonathan Livingston Seagull (showing at 10am and 1:30pm).
Try your hand at dance steps, listen to 70s music, see 70s cars (the Jones Truck Lines Club will be bringing two 1970s trucks for display in the parking lot! and we will have a yellow VW Bug in the Village) and hairstyles, answer questions about your memories of the 1970s, and more! There will be plenty of photo opportunities!
Thank you to our event sponsors Grand Country Pest Control, Signs by SIkorski, and Muscari Law.
