Christmas Tree LightingReturning December 2nd is Claremore’s West Bend Winterland. It will feature a variety of events running in December. “We invite everyone to join us for the official lighting of Claremore’s 65 ft. fresh-cut Christmas tree,” said Tanya Andrews, director of the Claremore Expo & Tourism Development. “The ceremony will be December 2nd at 6:30 p.m. located in the West Bend Green at the Claremore Expo Center.”
The 65 ft. Norway Spruce, weighing in the excess of 10,000 pounds came from the Dutchman Tree Farm in Manton, Michigan. Our great partner, Melton Trucking, will deliver the tree and with the assistance of Grand River Dam Authority and the City of Claremore Electric, the tree will be centered and placed in an eight-foot man hole, an engineered tree stand.
West Bend Winterland will be a time of celebration for families and visitors alike. On December 2nd, the lighting of the tree will kick-off with holiday music, free cocoa and popcorn. The synthetic ice rink will be open to the public from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and there will be no charge for skating.
Creoks Health Services, a non-profit organization providing comprehensive health, wellness and social services, will be on hand accepting donations for The Gift of Hope. They will be looking for toy and cash donations for local children but will have traditional angels on hand for the public to adopt.
The lighting ceremony is made possible by the City of Claremore, Visit Claremore, Melton Truck Lines, GRDA, BancFirst, Ira Green Construction, Claremore Daily Progress, Cherokee Nation, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Casey’s General Store, More Claremore, RCB Bank, and Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold, Attorneys & Counselors at Law.
