Built in 1859, the Will Rogers Birthplace in Oologah is authentically preserved and is a living history of Will's rich Native American and cowboy heritage.
The home sits on 400 acres, known as the Dog Iron Ranch and overlooks Oologah Lake where the home was once located. The Birthplace was moved to a scenic spot on a bluff, prior to the creation of the lake. Visitors to the ranch today will see a real working ranch that is populated by longhorn cattle and other livestock.
Will was born in 1870 in this log-walled, two-story house that is still furnished with period pieces and boasts an Amish built, historically correct barn. The Will Rogers Birthplace shares the stage with the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore, as the site of numerous family fun events including the Will Rogers and Wiley Post Fly-In held each August and Will Rogers Days, which coincides with Will’s birthday in November.
RV Sites and picnic areas are available at the Will Rogers Birthplace, so plan to enjoy this lovely Oologah setting most any time of year.
