Pensacola Dam

Langley, OK

"World's Largest Multiple Arch Dam"

Pensacola Dam began with the passing of the Works Progress Administration and President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in December 1938. Driven by Depression-era labor and suprisingly mild weather, the 24-hour-a-day continuous pour of concrete was completed in 20 months.

By August 1940, the road across the Dam was open and by the end of that summer, with heavy rains, the lake was full, and the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees was a reality.

This nearly mile long Dam connects the towns of Langley and Disney.

Free Tours are available Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend.
