Scuba Diving is an ever popular activity at Lake Tenkiller with divers from surrounding states making their way to the clear, cool waters to explore the depths.  Diver shops are available to provide certification, scuba equipment or just underwater directions.  Lake Tenkiller was formed when the Illinois River was flooded and a community was left behind.  Home sites are still accessible along with a variety of artifacts.

Hunters will enjoy the Gruber Public Hunting Area and the Cherokee Game Refuge on old Camp Gruber near the western shore of Lake Tenkiller. Principal game species include:
