Owner Chris Barbee, creator of Bowling Ball Yard Art in Nowata has found a unique use for “past their prime” bowling balls.  His yard is decorated front to back with hundreds of bowling balls.
Some of Chris’s Bowling Balls are fashioned into memorials with a special meaning, like one honoring those who perished in the Murrah Building bombing several years ago.  Others display Chris’ passions like OSU – Go Pokes!  Still others are random displays of these big, mostly black orbs.
To find Chris, watch closely for the Bowling Ball Yard Art sign one mile north of Nowata on Highway 169, to find the turn-off to Chris’ home.  The home is just a tad over a mile east of US Hwy 169 on Road 021 (Reid Veterinary Clinic on the Corner).
Take time while you’re in Nowata to visit the Julian Glass Mansion, it’s beautifully decorated with period furnishings and close by the 1st Presbyterian Church’s stained glass windows are a treasure.
