Copan Lake, located 1.8 miles north of Copan, is a beautiful corp lake providing abundant recreation opportunities. Families can enjoy wildlife watching, hiking, fishing, hunting and camping.
Copan Lake is 4,850 acres and has a shoreline length of 50.7 miles, with a capacity of 43,400 acre-feet and a maximum depth of 33.5 feet.
Copan Lake provides an excellent habitat for many species of game fish, such as:
- Largemouth bass
- White crappie
- Channel and flathead catfish
- Various species of sunfish
A large portion of project land has been set aside to be managed for wildlife. Game species available include:
- Deer
- Mourning dove
- Waterfowl
- Bobwhite quail
- Turkey
- Cottontail rabbit
- Squirrel
Copan Lake has Class A camping facilities. Copan Point offers a designated beach area, beautiful picnic sites overlooking the water, and a boat-launching ramp.
Overnight accommodations, services, and supplies are available at convenient locations on access roads leading to the project.
